Air and moisture are why a freshly recharged car AC can end up blowing warm again, and why the vacuum step exists at all. Any mechanic who knows how to vacuum a car AC system will tell you the same thing: pull the system into a deep vacuum, hold it to prove the seal, and only then recharge. What Vacuuming A Car AC System Actually Does
A car AC system is a closed loop, and it has to be dry and airtight before refrigerant goes in. Evacuation removes the two things that ruin a charge: air, which raises head pressure and cuts cooling, and moisture, which reacts with refrigerant and oil to form acid that eats the system from the inside. Under a deep vacuum, trapped moisture boils off at room temperature and gets pulled out through the pump.
